Canadians Harry Wasylyk and Larry Hansen invented the disposable green polyethylene garbage bag. Their idea was bought by Union Carbide and in the late 60s they began to manufacture the first green garbage bags for home use under the name GLAD^® Garbage bags.

We’ve come a long way since then. Our factory is located in Orangeville, Ontario and employs many people from the local area. Our product line now also includes bags for indoor, recycling, composting and gardening, and we continue to develop new products to meet the needs of our customers.
